Sudanese Fatima Samhan Wins the American Writer’s Award: Amelia Earhart Award

The Zainab Organization for the Development and Empowerment of Women extends its congratulations to the Executive Director of the organization, Ms. Fatima Ahmed Mustafa Samhan, on the occasion of receiving the Amelia Earhart Award, named after the well-known American writer and human rights activist, whose activities around the world are celebrated under the slogan “Women Have Wings,” in honor of the legacy of Amelia Earhart.

The award came as a culmination of the journey of the Zainab Organization for the Development and Empowerment of Women in the field of supporting the basic rights of women in all areas, including agriculture, social issues, education, economic empowerment, and the right to access and participate in decision-making centers.

Zainab Organization for the Development and Empowerment of Women is a long-standing organization rooted in Sudanese and regional society, which has not been deterred by the war that has ravaged the country from providing assistance to refugee women in refugee camps in neighboring countries and the Arab Republic of Egypt, as well as displaced women in cities and villages in Sudan, a country torn apart by war.

Fatima Ahmed Mustafa, an icon of giving and tireless work, is making every effort for Sudanese women through Zainab Organization. This award is not the first, as the organization received a prestigious award at the Climate Summit in Bonn (COP23) in Germany in 2017, the United Nations World Program Award (Equator Award) in 2012, as well as the Islamic Development Bank Award in Jeddah in 2012, in addition to another award at the Rio+20 Sustainable Development Conference in Brazil in 2012.
