Head of the Sovereignty Council Meets with the Egyptian Ambassador

Head of the Transitional Sovereignty Council,
Lieutenant General Abdul Fattah Al-Burhan, Council, met today with the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Sudan, Ambassador Hani Salah, in the presence of Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Hussein Al-Amin.

Ambassador Hani said in a press statement that the meeting was friendly and positive, noting that he conveyed the greetings of his brother, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to Head of the Sovereignty Council.
He added that Lieutenant General Al-Burhan also asked that his greetings and thanks be conveyed to President El-Sisi for receiving him in El Alamein on June 30.
He said that the meeting addressed the outcomes of the El Alamein Summit, which will have a clear impact on the course of bilateral relations.

He explained that he briefed the Head of the Sovereignty Council on developments in relations between the two countries, indicating that the joint ministerial trade committee between the two countries will convene soon, alongside the Egyptian-Sudanese Business Forum.
He affirmed Egypt’s firm and supportive stance toward Sudan in all regional and international forums, and highlighted Egypt’s efforts to support Sudan in various forums.

The Egyptian ambassador said that the Head of the Sovereignty Council affirmed Sudan’s full support and standing by Egypt regarding the existential and pivotal issue for both countries, namely the Nile water issue.

He emphasized the continuation of coordination between the two countries at the highest levels, and between the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Irrigation of the two countries, during the coming period, especially in light of the developments and movements taking place on the scene that may not be in their best interests.

Ambassador Hani added, “We look forward to the convening of the 2+2 mechanism between the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Irrigation of the two countries in the coming period.”
