Decision to Form the State Funding Committee for Health Insurance Services in Dongola

The governor of the Northern State, Lieutenant General Abdul Rahman Abdul Hamid, issued a decision to form a committee to finance health insurance services in the state under the supervision of Al-Mabasir. The decision assigned the position of chairman of the committee to the director general of the Ministry of Finance and included the membership of the director general of the Ministry of Health, the director general of social affairs, the secretary of the Zakat Bureau in the state, and the director of the branch of the National Health Insurance Fund in the state.

The resolution specified the committee’s tasks in following up on the Fund’s debts with the Fund’s financiers and service providers, in addition to determining the size and type of medical services provided within the framework of measuring funding. The decision ordered the committee to report monthly to the governor of the state.

Dr. Shiraz Omar Hijazi, Director of the National Health Insurance Fund branch in the state and a member of the State Funding Committee for Health Insurance Services, celebrated the decision to form the committee, describing it as an essential and important step toward achieving universal coverage in the state.

She explained that the decision came as a result of the discussions and outputs held by the Director General of the National Health Insurance Fund, Dr. Farouk Nour Al-Daim, regarding the state, in addition to the recent visit of the federal supervision team to the Fund’s branches in the state. She considered that the decision will positively reflect on the citizens of the state in terms of localizing health insurance services and stabilizing the health system in the state.
