China affirms support to the Sudanese government’s recent political steps

China’s Permanent Representative to the UN Security Council announced his country’s full support for the recent political steps taken by Khartoum, most notably the appointment of a new Prime Minister and the commencement of the formation of a civilian government.
The Chinese representative described these developments as “positive and important,” representing progress in implementing the national roadmap chosen by the Sudanese themselves.

He emphasized that these political steps deserve international support, emphasizing that achieving political stability in Sudan depends on respecting the will of its people and supporting national institutions without external dictates.

In a clear message to the international community, the Chinese representative called for avoiding the imposition of ready-made solutions that are inconsistent with the Sudanese reality and rejecting interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states. He pointed out that “any attempt to impose unrealistic standards or demands will only complicate the crisis, and we must learn from the lessons of the past.”

He added, “Sudan must have complete freedom to determine its development path and constitutional institutions in line with its unique circumstances,” calling for strengthening the principle of national sovereignty and supporting the efforts of the Sudanese people to build peace and stability.

These statements came during a UN Security Council session devoted to discussing the deteriorating political and humanitarian situation in Sudan, in light of the ongoing war and its repercussions on regional security and humanitarian efforts.

China’s supportive stance is consistent with international calls to respect Sudan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and opens the door to strengthening regional and international cooperation to serve the aspirations of the Sudanese people for peace and a sustainable civilian transition.
