Agar affirms Sudan’s keenness to develop relations with Namibia

At the conclusion of his visit to the Republic of Namibia, the Deputy Head of the Sovereignty Council, Commander Malik Agar Ayre, visited the graves of the leaders and founders who played a pivotal role in the Namibian people’s struggle for independence and freedom from colonialism.

His Excellency laid a wreath at the tombs of the historical leaders, expressing the Republic of Sudan’s appreciation and respect for the sacrifices of the heroes who contributed to building the modern state of Namibia, led by Sam Shilefo Nujoma.

In a speech marking the occasion, Agar affirmed that the visit represents a sincere expression of the deep historical ties and shared struggle between the peoples of Sudan and Namibia, noting Sudan’s pride in the fraternal relations that bind it to Namibia and its keenness to develop them to serve the interests of the two brotherly peoples.

He expressed his appreciation for Namibia’s experience in building a strong and stable state based on the foundations of freedom, justice, and equality, affirming Sudan’s commitment to continuing bilateral coordination and cooperation in various fields.

The Deputy Chairman of the Sovereignty Council explained that commemorating the founding leaders is a historical responsibility that enhances awareness of the values of struggle and national unity. He called for drawing lessons from their journey to build a prosperous future for the peoples of the African continent.

He also visited the National Historical Museum in the capital, Windhoek, and viewed the exhibits documenting the struggle of the Namibian people and their rich cultural history. He emphasized the importance of museums in preserving national memory and promoting cultural communication between peoples.
