Khartoum State Governor Discusses Rainy Season Preparations

Khartoum State continued preparations for the rainy season, according to meteorological forecasts that rising temperatures these days are an indicator of heavy rains accompanied by a rise in the River Nile’s water level.
The meeting of the Supreme Committee for Rainy Season Emergencies, chaired by Khartoum State Governor Ahmed Osman Hamza, discussed the report of the Roads, Bridges, and Water Drainage Authority, which included the arrangements made for water drainage axes, starting with rehabilitating and equipping equipment, issuing tenders to companies to work on clearing storm drains, reviewing drainage pumps at Nile outlets, and reviewing creeks, bridges, and flood protection gears.
The meeting also agreed to establish operations rooms at the local level and to strengthen coordination with the Roads, Bridges, and Water Drainage Authority.
The meeting emphasized that the greatest challenge facing the state is that work to drain the rainwater will be undertaken in all localities, given that the liberation of these areas has not yet been declared complete and that they are free of rebellion.
This is in light of the widespread looting and burning of damaged vehicles belonging to the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Roads and Localities Authority, and the burning of damaged vehicles.
This necessitates support for the state at this stage, by having the Minister of Interior address the Chairman of the National Civil Defense Council to provide logistical support to Khartoum State to confront the rainy season.
The Electricity Department announced the assignment of a mechanism to monitor and repair power outages during the rainy season.
