Khartoum explores alternatives to regulate the beverage vending profession

Khartoum Governor, Ahmed Osman Hamza, held a meeting today with the Directors-General of the Ministries of Social Development, Culture and Information, and Industry.

The meeting discussed the regulation of the profession of vending hot and cold beverages, as well as proposed solutions and alternatives to the current situation, which has led to the uncontrolled spread of this profession, causing significant deformities on main streets and public squares.

The Governor emphasized the state’s concern and interest in women working in the vending of hot and cold beverages and the circumstances that have led them to practice this profession.
He pointed out the importance of female vendors’ contribution to organizing the state’s cities and reducing negative phenomena.

The Director General of the Ministry of Social Development and the Acting Director of the Small Industries Development Authority reviewed proposed projects to regulate and organize the beverage retailing profession in a manner consistent with public taste and promoting environmental health. They also reviewed the addition of new projects to accommodate female vendors and assist them in marketing their products.

The Governor of Khartoum affirmed his support for the proposed models and projects and directed that their design be completed within a week, before approval and implementation could begin.

The Director General of the Ministry of Finance expressed her willingness to contribute to supporting and implementing these projects.
