UN commends Sudan’s humanitarian cooperation

Lieutenant General Al-Sadig Ismail Mahmoud, Advisor to the Sovereignty Council for Organizations and Humanitarian Action, announced Sudan’s deep commitment to continuing constructive cooperation with the United Nations system.
Lieutenant General Al-Sadig praised the distinguished role played by Ms. Clementine Salami, the UN Resident Representative and Humanitarian Coordinator, during her tenure in the country. This came during her farewell to him on the occasion of the end of her term.

Al-Sadig said, “Today we bid farewell to a loyal partner in the humanitarian effort. She was present on the ground, close to the people, and sincere in her commitments. Clementine set an exemplary model of UN action, and we greatly appreciate her efforts during one of the most challenging periods in Sudan’s history.”

According to the Sovereignty Council’s media, Al-Sadig discussed with the UN official developments in the humanitarian situation and ways to strengthen coordination mechanisms between the Sudanese government and UN agencies to ensure that aid reaches those who deserve it efficiently and transparently.
The Sovereignty Council Advisor expressed his aspiration for continued cooperation with the same spirit and responsibility, saying, “We are committed to moving forward in our partnership with the United Nations and will work diligently with the incoming representative to ensure the sustainability of humanitarian projects and expand their impact for the benefit of affected communities.”

For her part, Ms. Clementine Salami expressed her sincere appreciation for the cooperation and facilitation she received from Sudanese authorities, affirming that Sudan will remain a priority in her new position. She also emphasized the readiness of UN agencies to continue working together with the Chancellery to enhance the effectiveness of the humanitarian response and serve social stability.
