The Rapid Support Militia arrests 47 Abyei citizens

The administration of Abyei, on the side of Sudan, expressed its regret towards the recent events in the Abyei region, against the background of the arrest of the Rapid Support Militia of about (47) citizens, on charges of cooperation with the armed forces in an area,

Meanwhile, Head of the administration, Dr. Saloma Musa Yahya, called on the United Nations peacekeeping mission (UNISFA) to protect civilians in accordance with the mandate granted to it, as well as to protect all residents in homes, markets, shepherds and farmers within the region.
He stressed in limited press statements, saying, “The peacekeeping forces must assume their responsibility for the safety and security of citizens and cooperate in the return and safety of the kidnapped.”
