Launching the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development grant to support national ambulance

The Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development grant to support the health sector was launched, as the Federal Ministry of Health announced today the distribution of 27 fully equipped ambulances, as a third phase out of 74 cars within the National Ambulance and Referral Project in Sudan, funded by the Arab Fund for Development.

The Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, stressed the importance of the states’ commitment to the approved distribution map to ensure that ambulance services reach the most needy areas and to ensure the continuity of the project with donors, noting that the project represents a pivotal step to save lives and link health institutions, which contributes to the provision of urgent medical services and immediate response to crises.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Federal Government, Mr. Moaz Abdullah, expressed his happiness with the launch of the grant, praising the role of the Ministry of Health in bridging the gaps during the war period, and stressing the importance of the Arab Fund’s support for the health sector according to basic needs, calling on donors to follow the same approach in supporting Sudan.

The Minister of Health in the Darfur region, Dr. Babiker Hamedin, thanked the Federal Ministry of Health and the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, stressing that the region’s share of first aid includes three cars, which will contribute significantly to saving the lives of the injured and supporting reconstruction efforts in the region.

The representative of the Ministry of Finance, Ms. Ikhlas Muhammad Ali, stressed that the Ministry places health among its priorities to ensure the continuation of the provision of health services despite the difficult circumstances, stressing the continuous coordination with the Ministry of Health to ensure the effective implementation of projects.

At the end of the meeting, the representative of the Ministry of Interior, Major General Hanai Mohamed Ibrahim, Director of Traffic of the Red Sea State, praised the efforts of the Ministry of Health in developing health services, stressing the commitment of the Traffic Department to support the National Ambulance Project, and pointing to the opening of a training workshop for first aid, within the activities of the World Traffic Safety Week.
