Kamil Idris Swears in as Civilian Prime Minister

Dr. Kamil Idris was sworn in as civilian Prime Minister of the Transitional Council this afternoon (Saturday) in Port Sudan before the Head of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdul Fattah Al-Burhan.

The position of Transitional Prime Minister in Sudan has been vacant since the resignation of Dr. Abdalla Hamdok in January 2022.

Sudanese political forces and number of regional and international organizations, most notably the African Union and the Arab League, welcomed the recent step taken by the Head of the Sovereignty Council to appoint international expert Dr. Kamil Al-Tayeb Idris as Prime Minister.
