IGAD Executive Secretary co-chaired the IGAD-EU Partnership Dialogue

IGAD Executive Secretary Workneh Gebeyehu co-chaired the IGAD-EU Partnership Dialogue with H.E. Dr. Denisa-Elena Ioniti, EU Ambassador to Djibouti and the organization. The Dialogue affirmed shared commitment to regional peace and security, emphasizing the importance of multilateral cooperation in addressing political, security, humanitarian, and climate challenges in the Horn of Africa.
Dr. Workneh emphasized the vital role of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) in mobilizing greater international support for conflict resolution, and their commitment to strengthening the IGAD-EU strategic partnership in support of regional stability and development.

Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu posted the following after the meeting:
“This morning in Djibouti, I co-chaired the IGAD–European Union Partnership Dialogue with H.E. Dr. Denisa-Elena Ionete, EU Ambassador to Djibouti and IGAD. The Dialogue reaffirmed our shared commitment to regional peace and security, emphasizing the importance of multilateral cooperation in addressing political, security, humanitarian, and climate challenges in the Horn of Africa. I reiterated IGAD’s vital role in mobilising greater international support for conflict resolution and our commitment to strengthening the IGAD–EU strategic partnership in support of regional stability and development.”
