Saudi Ambassador Visits Khartoum, Raises the Kingdom’s Flag at the Embassy

Khartoum Governor, Ahmed Osman Hamza, received today at the Government Secretariat headquarters on Nile Street, Khartoum, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ambassador Ali bin Jaafar, and his accompanying delegation.
This visit comes within the framework of inspecting his country’s embassy and inaugurating and commencing the embassy’s operations in Khartoum.
For his part, the Governor of Khartoum praised the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the people of the Kingdom for the support and assistance they have provided to the Sudanese people before and after the war, under the Ambassador’s supervision.
This presence in Khartoum represents a true beginning for the work of the embassies in Khartoum.
The Governor stated that after the defeat of the rebellion, the state has entered a new phase of reconstruction and the removal of war remnants. He pledged to take rapid steps to restore services.
The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ali bin Jaafar, expressed his happiness at returning to Khartoum and the return of citizens and institutions to their headquarters.
He said that the Kingdom, both government and people, will continue to support Sudan.
This visit aims to inspect the embassy building and carry out rehabilitation operations in preparation for the return and commencement of its duties.
The Ambassador announced a new food support project that began today with the distribution of 5,000 food baskets to be provided to the state’s citizens affected by the war.
The project also includes logistical support, the rehabilitation of five hospital buildings, the provision of medical equipment and supplies to Omdurman and Martyrs Hospitals in Khartoum State, and the provision of orphan care. In addition, the Al-Naw Hospital has been recently supplied with an oxygen plant. Arrangements are underway to conduct 2,000 eye surgeries and vision tests at Makkah Eye Hospital.
He said that a federal ministerial committee is monitoring these projects and activities to be a source of support for the state at this stage, as an extension of the Kingdom’s continued support for the government and people of Sudan in such circumstances.
The Ambassador inspected the embassy headquarters in Khartoum and witnessed the extent of the destruction and looting of the embassy’s vehicles, equipment, and furniture.
He announced the immediate start of maintenance work and raised the Kingdom’s flag on the embassy’s flagpole, marking the official move to Khartoum.
