Promising Wheat Production Despite Security Challenges

Engineer Ibrahim Mustafa, Governor of the Gezira Scheme, inspected the wheat acreage in Wad Hilal in the central section.
He expressed his complete satisfaction with the yield, particularly in the Heglega Canal No. (9) in the village of Umm Jeer. He described the production as promising, with expectations of reaching 30 sacks per acre.
The Governor praised the farmers’ commitment to implementing the technical packages recommended by the Agricultural Research Authority, which has had a positive impact on production levels, despite the security challenges facing the contact areas, some of which have been subjected to attacks by rebels.
Mustafa confirmed that the project management is moving forward with the implementation of the seed production localization program within the project, which will contribute to raising efficiency and productivity in accordance with international standards.
He also expressed his appreciation for the support of the Head of the Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdul Fattah Al-Burhan, and Council Member Admiral Ibrahim Jaber, Advisor to the Gezira Scheme, noting that the project will remain a safety valve for achieving food security in Sudan.
He added that large quantities of wheat had been released into local markets, in addition to the transfer of seed wheat to the project’s warehouses.
He affirmed the administration’s commitment to disbursing farmers’ profits immediately after the accounting settlements were completed.
