Nuba Mountains Students’ Union Announces Support for Regular Forces, Slams Al-Hilu’s Alliance with Rapid Support Forces

The Nuba Mountains Students’ Union at Sudanese Universities and Higher Institutes issued a press statement declaring its full support for the armed forces, the General Intelligence Service, regular and joint forces.
It praised their victories on various battlefronts and commended the role of the mobilized forces in defending the homeland.
The statement strongly condemned what it described as violations committed by armed militias in the Nuba Mountains, aided by the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM), which it said has been “hijacked” by the Nairobi group in an attempt to revive scenes from the practices of the Marahil forces during the tenure of Fadlallah Burma Nasser as Minister of Defense under Sadiq al-Mahdi’s government.
The gathering called on the Nuba Mountains people, regardless of their affiliations, to declare a general mobilization in defense of their land and honor, to prevent a recurrence of the Darfur scenario in the region. It also appealed to Nuba Mountains students inside and outside Sudan to confront what it described as conspiracies targeting the region, affirming its rejection of any political deals at the expense of land.
It added, “There is no objection to al-Hilu forming an alliance with the Janjaweed, but not on the soil of our ancestors.”
The gathering affirmed its categorical rejection of the vision of the SPLM-N led by Abdel Aziz al-Hilu, accusing it of forming alliances with the rebel Rapid Support Forces militias and participating in meetings and conferences held in Kenya aimed at forming a parallel government in areas controlled by these militias.
The gathering concluded its statement by affirming its full commitment to supporting the central government and working to preserve the unity of the country. It also affirmed its efforts to pull the rug out from under the Nuba Mountains Association in universities and institutes, which it described as affiliated with the SPLM-N al-Hilu faction.
