Minister of Energy Announces Resumption of Second Phase of Kalaniyeb Power Project

Minister of Energy and Petroleum, Dr. Mohieddin Naeem Mohamed Saeed, announced the resumption of the second phase of the Kalaniyeb Power Project in Port Sudan.
He said in a press statement following his meeting today in Cairo with Mr. Elias Kagome, Chief Risk Officer at the African Export-Import Bank, that they have now effectively begun the resumption of the second phase of the Kalaniyeb Power Project.
He added that they met to discuss the resumption of work on the Kalaniyeb Power Project, noting that the meeting was fruitful and that they reached what he described as positive results.
The Minister of Energy and Petroleum said that the African Bank promised to launch serious discussions at the end of next May after the completion of the final report on the previous phase.
He added that it was agreed to expedite the process of providing financing and reviewing progress, in addition to increasing cooperation between the African Bank and the Sudanese oil sector through cooperation with Nile Petroleum Limited and the Sudanese Petroleum Pipelines Company.
