Head of the Sovereignty Council Meets with the Swiss Special Envoy

Head of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Abdul Fattah Al-Burhan, met today with the Swiss Special Envoy to Sudan, Sylvain Astier, in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Hussein Al-Amin.
The Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs stated that the Swiss envoy extended his congratulations to the Head of the Sovereignty Council on the victories achieved by the armed forces in the Battle of Dignity.
He indicated that the meeting addressed the humanitarian situation in Khartoum and El Fasher, stressing that his country supports humanitarian aid with a budget of up to $130 million, in addition to its support for the democratic transition. For his part, the Swiss envoy explained in a press statement that the meeting addressed the outcomes of the meeting of United Nations agencies on the humanitarian situation in El Fasher, indicating that his country has provided more than $130 million in humanitarian aid in Sudan.
He emphasized the need to protect civilians and called for unconditional respect for international humanitarian law.
He stated that the solution to the current Sudanese crisis lies in dialogue, pointing to the significant role played by the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Sudan in this regard.
He stressed Switzerland’s readiness to support Sudan’s desire to complete the democratic transition process.
