Executive Secretary of IGAD partakes on the Kick-off Malka Suftu Bridge Project

The Executive Secretary of IGAD, Dr. Werkneh Gebeyehu , met with key Kenyan officials to kick-off the Malka Ladeni–Malka Suftu Bridge Project, linking our member states Kenya and Ethiopia across the Dawa River.

Dr. Werkneh Gebeyehu posted the following on the occasion:

Regional integration begins at our borders, where lives are shaped by the ability to move, trade and connect. Building infrastructure that unites uplifts people and strengthens communities.

Today, I convened with key Kenyan officials to kick-off the Malka Ladeni–Malka Suftu Bridge Project, linking our member states Kenya and Ethiopia across the Dawa River. This marks a critical step in our broader vision to enhance cross-border connectivity in the Mandera Triangle, including future infrastructure projects that will connect Kenya, Ethiopia, and Somalia for greater integration and shared prosperity.
