UNSC to Meet on Sudan/South Sudan

The UN Security Council will hold closed consultations on Sudan/South Sudan on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.
The United States, supported by Algeria, Guyana, Sierra Leone, and Somalia, requested the meeting to discuss the recent outbreak of violence in South Sudan and its implications for the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).
The consultations will also likely focus on developments in the UN Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) area of operations.
A briefing will likely be provided by an official from the Department of Peace Operations.
