Extracts from Al-Burhan’s speech at the emergency Arab Summit in Cairo

* I commend the initiative of the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt to call for holding this extraordinary summit.

* I extend my sincere thanks to the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States for the good organization, and to all of you, I extend my congratulations on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.

* We in the Republic of Sudan affirm our firm and supportive position for the Palestinian people in order to establish their independent state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and we categorically reject any plans aimed at displacing our Palestinian brothers from their land.

* We meet today to affirm here from this summit the firm and unified Arab position rejecting any attempts aimed at uprooting the Palestinians from their land.

* We declare our full support for the Egyptian-Arab initiative aimed at rebuilding Gaza without displacing its residents.

* We are pleased to inform you that we in Sudan are continuing our efforts to restore stability and peace in the areas that were occupied by the rebel Rapid Support militia.

* The rebels have been expelled from large parts of the country and we are working to eliminate them in the rest of the regions.

* The world has witnessed the mechanism of sabotage, destruction and terrorism used by the rebel Rapid Support militia, supported by countries from the region and aided by foreign mercenaries.

* The militia has practiced all kinds of violations and crimes against citizens and infrastructure and is still proceeding with its miserable plan to bring the country to its knees with the desire and colonial tendency of its sponsors and supporters in the region.

* The determination of the Sudanese Armed Forces, backed by the support and rallying of the Sudanese people around it, is like an impregnable dam in the face of these illusions and will completely eliminate them.

* We have put forward a roadmap for civil and constitutional transformation, which includes an agreement on national constants.

* The roadmap stipulates the appointment of a civilian government of independent professionals.

* The roadmap called for launching a comprehensive Sudanese dialogue that excludes no one, ensuring the participation of all national groups in shaping the country’s future and paving the way for holding free and fair elections.

* We are ready to implement an immediate cessation of military operations whenever this rebel militia withdraws from the areas it occupies, lifts the siege on El Fasher and the rest of Darfur cities, and gathers in specific areas in preparation for disarming it and dealing with its matter militarily.

* We believe that defending the Palestinian cause is a shared responsibility that we should not deviate from, and from this standpoint, we call for strengthening the ability to confront common challenges.

* We affirm that Sudan will always remain at the forefront of defenders of the Palestinian cause. Steadfast in its principles, committed to its role in defending the issues of the nation and protecting its interests.

* Greetings and appreciation on behalf of the people of Sudan to the countries and governments that have continued to support and back Sudan and its people, especially our brothers from the Arab countries who have always supported the unity of Sudan and supported its legitimate national institutions as well as the League of Arab States.

* Thanks to everyone who stood in solidarity with us against the conspiracy that is currently taking place to divide and destroy Sudan.
