The First Forum of the National Agency for Emergency Care and Ambulance Begins

The first forum of the National Agency for Emergency Care and Ambulance kicked off today at the Ministries Complex Hall in Port Sudan under the slogan “Emergency care in the heart of war… Our challenges fuel opportunities”, under the patronage of the Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, in the presence of the Minister of Interior, the Undersecretary of Finance, the Undersecretary of Information, the representative of the Ministry of Federal Governance, the National Council for Drugs and Poisons, the National Health Insurance Fund, the National Fund for Medical Supplies, and the general departments of the Ministry, and the participation of all relevant authorities.
In the opening session of the forum, the Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, stressed the importance of the National Agency for Emergency Care and Ambulance, pointing to its establishment in 2020, to improve emergency care in all states of Sudan at all levels (community, before reaching the hospital, and inside the hospital), through the application of governance mechanisms, effective coordination with partners, and continuous funding for the health of the citizen , saying that this project is a national project that must be successful and should be supported, thanking the World Health Organization for their support for the Agency’s projects.
The Director of the National Agency for Emergency Care and Ambulance, Dr. Mohieddin Hassan, reviewed the strategic projects (the program for the development of emergency and critical care in hospitals, the National Ambulance, the medical teams project).
Dr. Mohieldin Hassan pointed to the development of a roadmap that includes 53 recommendations and the development of 14 priorities, explaining that the overall objective of the Agency is to improve emergency care in all states of Sudan through a clear vision to establish an integrated, accessible and high-quality emergency care system that effectively addresses health challenges. He revealed the agency’s achievements, the most important of which are the establishment of state agencies for emergency care and ambulance in each of the states of Khartoum, North and Gedarif, the opening of 6 emergency departments before the war, and the beginning of the implementation of the first phase of the project to rehabilitate emergency departments in 8 emergency departments in a number of hospitals in different states (Dongola, Gedarif, Port Sudan, Othman Diqna, Atbara, Kassala and Damazin), stressing its evaluation and support with devices and equipment.
