GIS Denounces OFAC Sanctions on Sudan’s Army Commander-in-Chief

The Sudanese General Intelligence Service (GIS) announced its rejection and condemnation of the decision issued by the US Treasury Department against the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, 1st. Lieutenant General Abdul Fattah Al-Burhan Abdul Rahman, describing the decision as lacking the simplest standards of justice and fairness, as it is based on false allegations that have no connection to reality.

GIS considers this decision a threat to peace and stability in the country, and a blatant violation of the will of the Sudanese people, who unanimously rallied around the armed forces and its Commander-in-Chief, the symbol of sovereignty and protector of the homeland, who has continued to lead the battle of dignity against the terrorist militias, bringing hope through the victories achieved recently on all fronts, especially the Gezira State axis, which drew hope for the displaced and refugees to return to their homes.
This decision was issued at a time when the US administration had acknowledged that the rebel Rapid Support Militia was committing genocide in Sudan.
It is unreasonable to impose sanctions on the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, who is bravely confronting these heinous crimes and violations, which the entire world has witnessed.

This blatant contradiction reveals clear confusion and double standards, and represents support and encouragement for the rebel militia to continue its violations and crimes against defenseless citizens and a betrayal of the victims and those hoping to return to their homes that were destroyed by the rebel militia.

The General Intelligence Service confirms that this decision, which lacks credibility and values ​​of justice, will not deter the Sudanese people from continuing their struggle against terrorism and genocide committed by the militia, which receives support from countries with their own agendas and ambitions, and that this decision will only increase their determination and resolve to uproot the roots of sedition, so that Sudan remains free, proud, and strong with its leadership, army, and people.
GIS, its leadership, officers, non-commissioned officers and soldiers will remain standing behind the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, to preserve and protect the dignity of the homeland and its citizens, and will spare no effort in serving the people of his country and protecting their gains.
