The 47 Forum of the NHIF Concludes Sessions

The Forum of Directors of Health Insurance Branches in the States concluded its forty-seventh edition. During the forum’s sessions, participants highlighted the necessity of periodically reviewing and updating the list of basic health insurance medicines. Additionally, they emphasized the importance of implementing a unified procurement system for medical and laboratory consumables to streamline operations and enhance efficiency across healthcare facilities.

The forum recommended the diversification of funding sources and the expansion of state collection mechanisms. They also underscored the ongoing need to reform the health financing system to ensure sustainability and inclusivity.

Additionally, the forum proposed expanding the development of the additional package to enhance the quality of basic healthcare services provided to the population.

Moreover, the forum addressed the importance of protecting the coverage of families affected by displacement, returnees, and individuals impacted by conflict by unifying interventions and establishing cost-sharing mechanisms with partners, notably the Zakat Bureau.

In response to these recommendations, Social Development Minister Ahmed Adam Bakhit commended the operational nature of the suggestions and directed further actions to implement them effectively.
