Sudan condemns Chadian authorities’ refusal to allow certificate exams

The Sudanese government expressed its regret and condemnation of the Chadian authorities’ refusal to allow the Sudanese certificate exams to be held for more than six thousand Sudanese refugee students from West Darfur State and elsewhere due to the violations of the rebel militia.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has made every possible effort through direct communication with the Chadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and through the High Commissioner for Refugees to convince the Chadian authorities to hold the exams, so that refugee students are not harmed by the wrong political assessments of the Chadian authorities, to no avail.
This position is an extension of the Chadian authorities’ hostile approach towards Sudan, as it has continued to provide all kinds of support to the Janjaweed militia, serving the agenda of the regional sponsors of the terrorist militia. Depriving innocent students of the right to education and threatening their future represents a clear violation of one of the basic principles of human rights stipulated in international law, and a denial of the close historical relations between the two brotherly peoples, and Sudan’s precedent in providing educational opportunities for the children of the Chadian people.
Depriving our children from sitting for the Sudanese Certificate exams will remain a black mark on the record of the Chadian authorities and their hostile policy towards the Sudanese people.
