Russian Federation expresses interest in establishing strategic relations with Sudan

The Russian Federation expressed its interest in establishing strategic relations with the Republic of Sudan, while Dr. Gibril Ibrahim, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, welcomed the development of relations with Russia into strategic cooperation relations.

He stressed – during his meeting with Mr. Andrei Chernovol, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Sudan at the Ministry today – the readiness of the Sudanese government to establish strategic cooperation relations in the economic field, expressing Sudan’s readiness to pay Russia’s dues to it if the Russian Ministry of Finance determines the payment mechanism.

For his part, the Russian ambassador revealed official arrangements for the visit of three delegations of businessmen from the Russian Chamber of Commerce to Sudan during the coming period and coordination with the relevant government agencies to sign agreements with the Sudanese side in the fields of energy, ports and electricity, stressing the Russian side’s interest in investing in the fields of infrastructure, calling for the definition of a map of Sudan’s priorities that takes into account the balance of developing the targeted areas.
