Jaber stands on the final arrangements to resume the currency replacement process

Member of the Sovereignty Council, Assistant Commander-in-Chief, Lieutenant General Engineer Ibrahim Jaber Ibrahim chaired the meeting of the Supreme Committee for Currency Change and Replacement in Port Sudan yesterday, in the presence of the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, the Minister of Culture and Information, the official spokesman for the government, Mr. Khaled Al-Eiser, and the committee members.
The Minister of Culture and Information said in a press statement that the meeting discussed a number of important topics and final arrangements to resume the replacement process, indicating that despite the exceptional circumstances that the country is going through as a result of the terrorist militia destroying the capabilities of the Sudanese people and their economy, the committee has put in place a number of controls and procedures to ensure the safety and smoothness of the change and replacement process.
Al-Eiser explained that the committee reviewed the costs of the members and the tasks assigned to them, in addition to the results of the visits of the committee delegation to some states to see their preparations for the replacement process, and the arrangements of the banking system and the Bank of Sudan in the targeted states in this regard.
He pointed out that the meeting discussed security measures and controls and ways to combat currency counterfeiting and depositing looted funds by the rebel terrorist militia, in addition to monitoring suspicious cases that may accompany currency exchange by weak-willed people to exploit it in criminal operations, stressing that the committee has put in place several controls to verify counterfeit banknotes before opening an account. Eiser called on all citizens to open bank accounts, and said,
“The exchange process will not be done in cash, but rather through bank deposits to preserve the citizen’s right and protect the national economy.” He concuded
