AlBurhan Strong Messages

Translated by Hanan Sobhy
In the midst of violent military conflict that Sudan has been faciing for more than 19 months, 1syLeiutenant General Abdul Fattah A-lBurhan, the Sudanese army commander and Head of the Transitional Sovereingty Council, addressed the first Economic Conference that was held in Port Sudan .
Despite his appearance in a military uniform, Al-Burhan’s tone was calm conveying trust and re-assurance about the Sudanese crisis.. His recent address coincided with some important and positive diplomatic developments, such as Tom Perrello , the U.S. Envoy’s visit to Sudan where the government was able to change his negative impression of the country. .In addition, Russia’s use of( The veto) against the British draft resolution in the security Council against Sudan.
Al-Burhan’s speech involved a set of iInternal and external messages that he he delibrately sent in this important time. the most prominent of which was: the stand towards the Rapid Support militia , its supporters, and the countries that stood at a grey area (neutrality) as he called it , towards the issue of war in Sudan, along with the party of National Congress and the future orientations of Sudan.
On the part of domestic political messages, Al-Burhan confirmed categorically in his address that the war against Rapid Support is coming to its end, and there’s no room for negotiation or truce with the enemies of the Sudanese people.
These statements demonstrate the army’s resolve for an entire military decisiveness and the leadership’s tenacity and determination to eliminate the rebels or subjecting them to surrender.
Al-Burhan also asserted that the militia and its proponents cannot participate in the next political stage.in reference to the Coordindatiin of the Civil Democratic Forces( Takadum). He criticized countries backing he militia, saying they would have no place in Sudan’s history, which may reveal a part of potential mediation Perreillo tried to provide for the benefit of United Arabs of Emirates.(U.A.E). in the last days of his assignment to Sudan’s case-file that may be transferred to another person within the re-elected president Donald Trump”s administration next January.
In another part of his address, Al-Burhan included a clear attitude on National Congress convening its Shura Council making a stinging criticism regarding attempts of some National Congress party leaders to hold political meetings and reform itself, Al-Burhan said they would never accept any action hat’s hostile to the unity of Sudan. However, this rejection doesn’ t mean this party.
Is completely excluded ,but perhaps it rather reflects an attempt to preserve the unity of Sudan at the critical moment and his a lighnment to the young adherents who declared that they aren’t concerned with differences of National Congress Party as long as the war isn’t yet over. According to observers that’s a smart indication that ensures the fighting front is free from the reprecussions of any possible disagreements of Islamic movements or trends.
He emphacized that the National Congress Party (NCP) should be removed from the political arena at the present time but never closed the door for any probable future role. He did not label this party as “dissolved,”
In fact, the NC party, despite its controversial political past still retains a broad popular base in Sudan, especially among the youth , who have shown a willingness to join the fighting fronts against the rebels. Therefore, it may be difficult to ignore the role of the party in the future, especially if its young people continue to play an active role in defending the country. This shift in the role of the party, which has become part of the homeland defense front, may reflect a gradual shift towards its reintegration into the political process at a later stage, after the rebellion is eliminated and stability returns. There is also an important aspect that Al-Burhan referred to in his talk about the fighters in the field, that they “do not belong to any party or group.” This may shed light on the role of the young people in this national battle. These young people who joined the fight against the Rapid Support Militia represent all the sons of Sudan , who rose up to defend national sovereignty, and they are in fact part of the social and political fabric of Sudan.
In his talk, Al-Burhan also rejected foreign interventions: The messages he sent to the international community were clear and decisiv, He strongly criticized the British draft resolution in the Security Council, stressing that Sudan refused this resolution “because it violated national sovereignty” and did not include any condemnation of the insurgents. .Al-Burhan indicated that Sudan does not agree to any solutions coming from abroad, considering that such solutions have failed in other places such as the Arab Spring countries, referring to Libya.
This position indicates that Sudan does not want foreign interventions that may affect its political independence or undermine the Sudanese army’s efforts to achieve peace and restore security. There , we must point out what Perillo said that he “submitted a proposal for a solution to the war issue and that Al-Burhan agreed to it. This confirms that this solution came in accordance with what preserves Sudanese sovereignty. Perreillo went at the end of his visit to Djibouti, where t he met the head of IGAD, Ismail Omar Guelleh, , which means that the next role in the Sudanese problem may be played by IGAD. Or it has an essential role to play , besides the effort made by the UN Secretary-General’s envoy to Sudan, Ramdan Lmamra. Despite the emphasis that the priority at the present time is to “eliminate the rebels”, and establish security, Al-Burhan indicated that the next stage will witness steps towards peace and political stability. He stressed that Sudan will not go to negotiations or a ceasefire until the rebels withdraw from the areas they occupied, stressing that this is the basic step before any political process. He also added that Sudan will work to complete the transitional period by forming a civil government of independents , who should be selected through (Sudanese _ Sudanese ) dialogue , to manege the country in the next phase .
Accordingly , Al-Burhan’s speech , has sent balanced messages that combine military decisievness , and paving the way for an internal political dialogue very soon .
He also clearly confirmed his view about (RSF) militia , and its supporters , when he emphasized on the necessity of excluding any political participation of the militia , and it’s followers which reflected Al-Burhan”s tenacity and determination to achieve a security and stability in the country .
