Sudan files a complaint against Chad

The government of Sudan, through representatives of the Committee for the Establishment and Follow-up of International Claims against the rebel Rapid Support Forces, their leaders and the countries supporting them, and with the authorization of the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, filed a complaint against the Republic of Chad to the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights of the African Union at its headquarters in Banjul, the capital of Ghana, in accordance with the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights.
The complaint included facts, evidence and conclusive evidence proving Chad’s involvement in supporting and backing the rebel Rapid Support Militia in violations and crimes committed by the rebel militia, including genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity, which included murder, rape, sexual violence, forced displacement, destruction of infrastructure, recruitment of children, looting of public and private property and occupation of citizens’ homes.
Chadian support for the militia played a fundamental role in the rebel militia committing these violations and prolonging the war.
