Statement from the Shendi Local Security Committee regarding the detention of relief vehicles, verification of their safety and release

Shendi Local Security Committee would like to point out that within the framework of national responsibility to ensure the security and safety of citizens and facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to those who deserve it, groups of mobilized personnel working to protect and secure their villages detained a group of relief vehicles on suspicion.

The local security committee immediately intervened to verify their identities and contents to ensure their compliance with the applicable regulations and procedures.
After the necessary inspection and verification procedures, it was confirmed that the aforementioned vehicles were carrying humanitarian aid directed to the targeted areas according to the agreed upon controls. Accordingly, they were allowed to continue on their way to their specified destination.
Shendi Local Security Committee affirms its keenness to provide an appropriate climate for the work of international, humanitarian and relief organizations with full commitment to protecting the country’s security and ensuring that these channels are not exploited for illegal purposes.
