Kabashi receives Japanese Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa

Member of the Sovereignty Council, Deputy Commander-in-Chief, 1st. Lt. Gen. Shams El Din Kabashi, appreciated the efforts undertaken by Japan in supporting and assisting the Sudanese people in their ordeal and providing humanitarian assistance to those in need.

His Excellency stressed, during his meeting in his office in Port Sudan yesterday, with the Japanese Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa, Mr. Shinsuke Shimizu, the keenness of the Sudanese government and its full commitment to working to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian assistance to those who deserve it and facilitate the work of relief teams and humanitarian workers.

The meeting discussed the situation in Sudan, developments on the ground, the current crisis and its impact on the regional and international environments.

The meeting also affirmed the importance of coordination and work to enhance joint cooperation between the two countries in all fields and Sudan’s keenness to develop bilateral relations and push them to broader horizons.

For his part, the Japanese Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa said, in a press statement following the meeting, that the visit aims to launch the humanitarian aid provided by Japan, which includes mechanisms, equipment and refrigerated vehicles to transport vaccines to remote areas, especially the cholera vaccine.
He added that his government seeks to enhance cooperation, provide assistance and stand with the Sudanese people in this crisis they are going through. He explained that Japan seeks to provide several new projects to improve water supply facilities and hospitals in the Red Sea and Kassala states, in addition to various projects in the fields of development and programs to support women, peace, security and the economy in both the public and private sectors.
