Finance Minister reveals understandings and support of $300 million from the IMF for Sudan

Sudanese Finance Minister Jibril Ibrahim said in a press conference about his participation in the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, that he addressed the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund to expedite the procedures for the funds allocated to Sudan and receive them as soon as possible in June 2025, complaining from the slowness of the procedures for disbursing the amounts directly, which are scheduled to arrive through UNICEF and the World Food Organization agencies.

The Finance Minister indicated that the meeting discussed several topics, including the expected funds of $100 million from the World Food Program and $112 million for health emergencies, in addition to $42 million allocated for education, in addition to $100 million for social emergencies and $100 million from the African Development Bank for wheat production and providing seeds and fertilizers for the winter season.
Jibril denied that the funds allocated from the World Bank Fund are borrowing, but rather support estimated at $300 million that comes according to the needs of poor or vulnerable countries.

Jibril revealed understandings with the Kuwaiti Fund to allocate an amount for health emergencies, in addition to discussions with the US envoy on the peace process and crossings.

The Minister of Finance added that his ministry is doing its utmost to solve the problems of citizens, and that it will work to present a vision for reconstruction to the Sovereignty Council.
