Editorial: Russian Veto .. Turning Point

The recent Russian veto
of Security Council resolution on Sudan
Represents a major turning point in the struggle of the superpowers on Sudan’s crisis.

This was apparent in verbal abuses exchanged between the British delegation and his Russian counterpart.

It became clear from the tendency of the representative of the United Kingdom to say that his country, in all its calculations, did not expect the use of the veto, which means tearing up the decision and throwing it in dustpin.

It goes without saying that the Russian veto initially indicates that the understandings and exchanges with Sudan have gone far without publicity or spotlight.

Obviously, the veto is a support process that Sudan previously failed to secure when its file was referred to the International Criminal Court by Russia itself or China, which was a stronger ally.

The Russian veto will draw the attention of the United States of America, which with this measure came out completely without points within the legacy of the Biden administration, and most likely in the Trump administration the USA will reconsider its stances.
American side today was in a surrender position.

The Russian position will give the African blocs the ability to maneuver in all future resolutions proposed later on Sudan file.

In conclusion we can say that every decision with procedures and proposals for intervention or the like will be doomed, and therefore it can be said clearly that the Security Council front is now secured for Sudan, which in turn will have time to improve its African dossier and perhaps even the Arab one.
