SFPA launches a campaign to combat breast cancer in River Nile State

The Sudanese Family Planning Association (SFPA) in River Nile State is leading these days, within the framework of its programs for the Pink October month, a campaign to combat breast cancer, under the auspices of the association’s presidency and in coordination and cooperation with the state’s Ministry of Health and a number of relevant authorities.
Ms. Kawthar Mohamed Ibrahim, Executive Director of the SFPA in River Nile State, said in a press statement that the launch of the campaign programs began at the beginning of this month and included organizing examination clinics and awareness programs for prevention by organizing enlightening and brainstorming meetings with the target groups, especially women, youth and girls, with the participation of specialists and experts in the field of oncology and cancer.
She announced that the campaign organized by the association comes in implementation of the policies of the association’s presidency supporting and motivating the global campaign to combat breast cancer, which is held in October of each year with the aim of confirming standing and solidarity with infected women and conducting early examinations to provide the required treatments and health guidance for the target groups.
She announced that the campaign in Sudan is held this year under the slogan (-No war will deter us – Together we stop breast cancer).
Regarding the service provision, she stated that the association provides its services through its integrated family medicine center in Atbara and mobile clinics, which include awareness programs, self-examination, and clinical examination of breast cancer.
She called for contacting the telephone number 1700 for inquiries and advice.
Ms. Kawthar expressed her thanks and appreciation for the efforts of all workers and volunteers in the association, noting that they continue to provide health services despite the challenges.
It is noteworthy that the association has started implementing media programs in the state to raise awareness about breast cancer.
A unique activity was also implemented at Al-Amir Club in Atbara within the framework of the Pink October activities, which was represented in organizing a women’s handball activity in the presence of Mr. Salah Al-Jilani, Director of Media and Behavior Change at the SFPA, and representatives of the federal and state youth ministries, the head of the Handball Federation, and the head of Al-Amir Club.
