Our Lighthouse

By: Alaa Babiker
“A lighthouse is a tower, building, or other type of physical structure designed to emit light from a system of lamps and lenses and to serve as a beacon for navigational aid, for maritime pilots at sea or on inland waterways” – Wikipedia.
The light house serves as an aid to maritime coastal navigation, warning mariners of hazards, establishing their position, and guiding them to their destinations. All to ensure the safety of man and facilitates his marine work. In the past people used to have limited marine accomplishments compared to today, as now everything is monitored and controlled even at far distance by using recently discovered advanced technologies, with facilitated the work and helped preserving many lives.
Man needs guidance and protection at all his life. One does not know anything without being taught and guided how to do it and what are the risks of doing or not doing. On a larger scale, all nations are being taught and programmed how to work, and how the system of their country works. Some have tried to do things differently but again got back to doing what everyone else is doing, respecting the system.
All populations need a lighthouse not at the shore of their seas and reivers, but in their lives. A guidance to the right path. A tool to help them live a decent and honorable life. Someone they can trust and someone they can refer to as their lighthouse.
Our beloved country has found too many lighthouses over the past period, especially after our independence. Great leaders were willing to serve the country and the people with their hearts and lives. But as life always goes on, great people are targeted and eliminated from the scenes by one means or another. This is a critical time for the Sudanese to start thinking positively about whom or what their lighthouse is?! It could not only be a person, but we can also choose our lighthouse to be our morals and ethics as never to take the side of the wrong. Or working together, truly respecting each other, and helping each other not only in times of crisis, but always. Our lighthouse exists, we just need to look carefully, as it is present at each house and inside the heart of each person.
May Allah grant wisdom and positive thinking upon our leaders to end this war and give our Sudanese soldiers the strengths to rescue and unite the country again.
