Jaber directs the preparation of the investment environment in the Northern State

Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Assistant Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces. 1st. Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Jaber confirmed his support and sponsorship of the outcomes of the first investment and industry forum in the Northern State, announcing the holding of the second forum in the River Nile State next January.
During the opening session of the investment forum held in Port Sudan, Jaber directed the Ministries of Transport, Industry, Communications and the Ministry of Infrastructure to operate domestic flights from Port Sudan Airport to Dongola Airport and connect the fiber network so that telecommunications companies can improve the quality of their services as the outlet for communication with investors at home and abroad, in addition to maintaining the national road between the administrative capital and the Northern State.
He called for the necessity of attaching industrial cities to residential cities and establishing an industrial consulting center in the city of Dongola, announcing his sponsorship of the establishment of a vocational and technical training institute through the Ministry of Labor to qualify cadres and produce skilled workers. Jaber also directed the Federal Ministry of Agriculture to transfer one of the research centers to the Northern State to work on transferring technology and supporting farmers who represent the backbone of the industry.
Lieutenant General Jaber pointed out that the government of Sudan has worked to provide many facilities for the industrial sector in addition to approving the industry law that facilitates investment procedures in the industry for foreign and national investors in order to cover the needs of the local market with incentives that encourage increasing the country’s industrial exports, considering that industry is the only sector capable of employing the largest number of the Sudanese people, indicating that the government supports the establishment of industrial and investment projects to achieve public benefit, adding that the government is working hard to complete the National Investment Authority, which is being discussed between the Ministry of Investment and the Council of Ministers, in addition to the National Investment Law that will be published soon in the Official Gazette so that it can be a protector and supporter of all investors and manufacturers who wish to work in Sudan.
The Sovereignty Council member said that the organization of this forum by the Northern State comes within the framework of highlighting the promising capabilities of the state thanks to the diversity of its resources.
For her part, the Minister of Investment and International Cooperation, Ahlam Madani Mahdi, appreciated the idea of holding the forum outside the Northern State, while ensuring that its session continues to cover all states of the country to display and reflect the efforts of the Ministry of Investment in promotion, stressing its support and assistance to all state institutions working in this regard, adding that the ministry reviewed the Investment Promotion
Law for the year 2021, and that the amended draft and the regulations of the law carry many good tidings for investors.
She also indicated that the great destruction caused by the war in the country caused all factories and industrial areas in Khartoum, Gezira, and part of Sennar and White Nile states to exit the production cycle, with the destruction of the industrial infrastructure, the looting of its resources and equipment, and the displacement of workers, which caused shortages and gaps in the production of essential and important goods in the country. Indicating that the establishment of this forum came at an appropriate time, affirming that the ministry encourages such forums to contribute to developing solutions and alternatives to advance investment in its sectors.
For his part,Governor of the Northern State, Abdeen Awad Allah Mohammed, renewed the state’s commitment to care for and protect the rights of investors and to make investor satisfaction a goal of investment planning, adding that the security stability witnessed by the Northern State represents the greatest incentive for investment, especially since it abounds with many advantages that make it a major national economic center with the provision of the elements of industrial stability and border trade.
