Interior Minister meets the Ministers of Humanitarian Affairs and Internal Security in the Central African Republic

Minister of Interior, Major General Khalil Pasha Sayreen, met on the sidelines of his participation in the meetings of the Executive Committee of the High Commissioner for Refugees’ Programme of Action, on Wednesday, October 16, at the United Nations Palace in Geneva, with Ms. Bimaka Soi Josian, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, and Mr. Michel Nazin, Minister of Security and Commissioner for Refugees in the Central African Republic.
The Ministers praised the strength of the fraternal relations between the two countries, Sudan and the Central African Republic, and the interconnectedness between the peoples of the two brotherly countries, stressing the positive role played by Sudan in establishing peace and finding sustainable solutions to the regional refugee crisis in the Central African Republic, and the fact that Sudan is part of the Yaoundé Declaration among a number of neighboring countries of the Central African Republic, which is concerned with addressing the refugee crisis.

The meeting also discussed ways of joint cooperation between the two countries to address the increasing humanitarian challenges resulting from the regional refugee crisis, including the African-Middle Eastern refugees returning from Sudan, and the Sudanese who sought refuge in the Central African Republic as a result of the war launched by the rebel militia.
The Afro-Middle East Ministers also affirmed that their countries will remain open to the Sudanese, and that the issue of receiving Sudanese refugees is one of the top priorities of President Faustin Touadera, who is personally following up on the matter.
In this regard, the Minister of Interior, Major General Khalil Pasha, affirmed Sudan’s commitment and positive engagement in implementing the provisions of the Yaoundé Declaration through the technical committee established for this purpose.
On the other hand, the two parties stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation in the field of joint border management, in a way that ensures the safety of refugees and prevents their exploitation by armed groups, and combats mercenaries that threaten the security and stability of the two brotherly countries.
At the end of the meeting, the Ministers affirmed the commitment of the two countries to continue close cooperation in order to find sustainable solutions to the refugee crisis, expressing their aspiration to hold future meetings to continue dialogue and coordination in this area.
