UNHCR representative in Chad violates his mandate

Sudanese civil society organizations filed a complaint to the UNHCR in Geneva against its representative in Chadian city Abeche, as he invited, on Thursday, a specific group of Sudanese refugees to an expanded meeting with the aim of arranging an upcoming visit of the UAE ambassador in Chad, accompanied by the Chadian Minister of Social Welfare to meet the refugees and to determine their needs in preparation for the provision of those needs by the country that supports the rebels.
Such an action which violates the values and objectives of the international organization is questionable.
The complaint have assured that this behavior leads to believe that there is coordination between the rebel Rapid Support Militia, the UAE, and the UNHCR considering that purpose of arranging a visit of the UAE Ambassador to Chad for Sudanese refugees is to reverse a positive image of the UAE’s role in Sudan and to promote the UAE’s support for refugees.
The participation of a number of Sudanese refugees belonging to the social incubators of the Janjaweed, specifically from West Darfur State, aims to employ them to promote the UAE and deny its providing the refugees with weapons to kill and displace more Sudanese.
The Sudanese civil society organizations have demaned, in its complaint, the High Commissioner of the UNHCR to investigate the irresponsible behavior of the UNHCR representative in the Chadian city of Abeche, and to immediately stop coordinating with the countries supporting the war in Sudan, and for the international organization to exercise its humanitarian role entrusted to it in accordance with the international laws regulating its work.
