Head of the TSC meets Turkish President

Head of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces, 1st. Lieutenant General Abdul Fattah Al-Burhan met yesterday in New York, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The meeting touched on bilateral relations and ways to support and enhance cooperation relations between Sudan and Turkey.

Al-Burhan briefed the Turkish President on the crimes and atrocities committed by the terrorist Rapid Support Militia against civilians and its destruction of the country’s infrastructure.

He pointed out the Sudanese government’s response to calls for peace and its participation in the Jeddah talks, which led to the signing of the Jeddah Agreement in May 2023, an agreement that the rebel militia did not commit to its implementation.

Al-Burhan appreciated the distinguished level of cooperation relations between Khartoum and Ankara.

He expressed his thanks and appreciation to Turkey for its continuous support to the Sudanese people through the valuable humanitarian aid it provided to citizens affected by war, floods and torrents, praising the positions of the Republic of Turkey in support of Sudan in international and regional forums.

The meeting was attended from the Sudanese side by Ambassador Hussein Awad, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Ambassador Al-Harith Idris, Sudan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
