Executive Secretary of IGAD discusses Strategic issues with Foreign Minister of Somalia

As part of his official visit to the Federal Republic of Somalia, the Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), H.E. Dr. Workneh, held strategic discussions with H.E. Ahmed Mufaqi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Somalia (@MOFASomalia).
The meeting underscored the urgent need to promote regional peace and security and strengthen the partnership between IGAD and Somalia.
A pivotal agreement was signed to establish a regional centre of excellence in the blue economy – which is considered a transformational step for the region and Somalia – The Executive Secretary also welcomed Somalia’s contribution to the coherence and integration of IGAD and its use of its good offices for peace in Sudan.
