Embassy of Netherlands in Sudan

This week, the Sudanese Red Crescent is visiting the Netherlands to raise awareness about the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Sudan. They have engaged with Members of Parliament, the Netherlands Red Cross, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The key message is that Sudan must not be forgotten on the international stage. Urgent attention is needed, also given the human rights violations. Natural disasters, including heavy rains, are exacerbating the situation, leading to disease outbreaks such as cholera, dengue, and severe malaria.

It is deeply tragic that 16 volunteers and staff members from the Sudanese Red Crescent have lost their lives since the crisis began, including 8 who were killed on the front lines. As the Netherlands, we stand firmly with our Red Cross and Crescent partners. Humanitarian and medical workers should never be targets.
