Britain is leading a malicious campaign against Sudan, Says Sudanese Official

The UN Security Council is expected to hold a special session on Sudan next Wednesday, September 11, during which it will listen to the report of the Committee of Experts formed pursuant to Resolution 1591 on developments in Darfur

Sudan’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Al-Harith Idris, said that it is premature to talk about a veto before the session is held.
He revealed about a closed session held by the UN Security Council last Wednesday, indicating that the council dedicated it to discuss the humanitarian situation in Sudan.
He denied using the veto during the session, as is being discussed in some media outlets, attributing this to the fact that the session was not followed by a vote on the draft resolution.

Al-Harith warned that there is confusion being circulated in the media regarding interventions by some members regarding a previous Security Council resolution adopted last June regarding the siege of the city of El Fasher and the closed Security Council session on the humanitarian situation held last Wednesday.

He revealed intensive movements led by Britain within the corridors of the Security Council within the framework of a campaign he described as malicious against Sudan, including the report of the Fact-Finding Committee, which is scheduled to be presented before the Human Rights Council in Geneva tomorrow, Tuesday.
