Orbits: Unfortunate Tweet

In a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account,
US Special Envoy for Sudan Tom Perriello tweeted:

” I am alarmed by RSF attacks that have forced a civilian mass exodus from Singa, Sennar State and surrounding areas. The RSF has legal and moral obligations concerning civilian protection and should ensure that civilians seeking refuge are protected from violence.

The question that poses itself is how do Mr. Perriello ask a terrorist gang to take a legal and moral stance, when it has been looting, plundering, killing, and practicing genocide, ethnic cleansing, rape, starvation, kidnapping, and destroying public institutions for a whole year?
Didn’t he read the reports from international institutions and United Nations experts on the systematic violations of the militia?
So how can the US Special Envoy expect legal and moral positions from those terrorists?
What are the legal standards and conventions that make a terrorist gang have a moral stance, while the OFAC has imposed sanctions on half of its leaders on charges of genocide, ethnic cleansing, forced displacement, and murder on ethnic grounds?

Mr. Perriello’s tweet is unfortunate.

May God protect our beloved Sudan and its people.
