Interior Minister confirms Sudan’s cooperation with the UN

Acting Minister of the Interior, Major General (Rtd) Khalil Pasha Sayreen said that the release of inmates from prisons by the rebel militia had negative effects on the nation and the citizen due to the participation of many of these inmates in the war alongside the rebels, indicating during his address in the Red Sea State Police Hall, the founding platform of the Ministry of Interior. Regarding prison issues under the slogan (The Ministry of Interior: The Battle of Construction and Dignity), he said that during his recent participation in the United Nations meetings in New York, a bilateral meeting was held with the Director of the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism, and he indicated that the meeting discussed ways of joint cooperation and exchange of information.

He added that during this, he presented a list of 100 terrorists who were released by the rebel militia and who were in prisons, within the framework of cooperation and coordination with the United Nations until these terrorists are searched and arrested, whether those who are with the rebel militia or those who fled to neighboring countries.
He revealed a plan to transfer inmates in prisons in states seeking safe states, and called for the launch of social, humanitarian, and charitable initiatives calling for the adoption of campaigns to release fined inmates with minor sentences, in an effort to consolidate the meanings of rehabilitation and reform in a manner consistent with international and regional partnerships, agreements, and laws in the areas of human rights, which under which Sudanese prisons operate
For his part, Lieutenant General Yasser Omar Abu Zaid, Director General of the Prison Forces, explained that the prison administration sought to establish correctional cities to address the problems of overcrowding and overcrowding in prisons, which increases the suffering of inmates and prison administrations alike, and the focus is on correctional operations and rehabilitation programs to ensure that they return to society with craft professions through which they earn a decent livelihood. Which provides them with a safe and stable life.
He pointed out that the terrorist militia released the inmates, which was not essentially an escape from prisons, as the rebel militia claims.
Follow-ups by the police press office indicate that all legal measures have been taken and administrative steps have been completed for the return of the inmates to prisons, some of whom have begun their voluntary return to prisons and correctional centers, and this will be followed by applying the necessary procedures legally stipulated under Article (110) of the Prisons Law in the event of non-voluntary return. .
