Narcissistic Acts: Dehydration

By: Alaa Babiker
Water is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula H₂O. It is a transparent, tasteless, odorless, and nearly colorless chemical substance, and it is the main constituent of Earth’s hydrosphere and the fluids of all known living organisms. Without the hydration of water nothing would be alive, all would suffer dehydration and then serious illnesses. But the side effects of dehydration can be reduced and maintained by the continuous intake of fluids, specially pure clean water.
Sudan is a country that has one of the largest Niles in the world (The Blue Nile and the White Nile) and at their confluence is called (The Nile). Sudan also has a part of one of the greatest seas (The Red Sea). The amount of water that passes through Sudan is remarkably astonishing, yet most of the states suffer sever water shortage, this is before the emerge of the war on 15th of April 2023, now after 14 months of continuous fighting and destruction even the capital is suffering sever shortage of water supplies. This is a crucial indicator for a soon coming dehydration waves that might hit the country in the coming period unless the war stops and massive maintenance of the water lines occur.
Another concern is the dehydration of the livestock’s, different types of animals are in real danger of dehydration, and this will not affect only animals but the Sudanese population as well. Poor hydrated animals give less productions of both meat and milk not to mention the diseases and the susceptibility to death , which will directly and negatively affect the nutritional needs of the population. Therefore; more attention is to be given to states that still having war, and both fighting armies are to permit the humanitarian aids to enter the places of civilians, otherwise we will not only be facing famine, but will also face severe waves of dehydration, and the outcomes will be of great concerns.
In the end, may Allah grant positive thinking, discipline, and wisdom upon our leaders to end this war.
