Narcissistic Acts: The complications of the lack of Food Security inside Khartoum State

By: Alaa Babiker

Food is one of the main elements of the survival of human body. Metabolic processes are not complete untill after meeting the minimum amounts of the nutritional substances. That is a fact. Another fact is that populations living in third world countries are having certain conditions, diseases, and different types of malnutritions related only to food deficiency. In Sudan we have many types of all these deficiencies and malnutritions, now of course I’m speaking of the period before the 15th of April 2023!

After 8 months of severe food deficiencies, mainly inside the Capital of the country, people who still live in war zones for more than 8 months now having limited food supplies are exposed to have different forms of these conditions. This is a call to all the international organizations to actively start providing the civilian members of the Sudanese population who still live inside war zones with nutritious foods to be distributed to all parts of the affected areas. What we are witnessing now is a real catastrophe, people in many places are ill due to poor nutrition, many cases have passed away just because they don’t have food and they don’t have enough money to buy what is available in the black market.

The living situation for those who stil live inside Khartoum is getting worse every day, and now that the near by Al-Jazeera State is having to fight being moved to its lands, in just over one night people woke up having to literally reside in open spaces of the nowhere, being forced to move – this is for the second time to families who flee from Khartoum before – to another places searching for security, shelter, and food is a complete crisis that needs urgent rescue interventions.

I try very hard to stay optimistic, but looking at what is happening now, many of Sudanese families who still live in war zones for more than 8 months now will experience one of the devastating food deficiency complications of all times. Stay aware, stay hydrated, and may God help us all in Sudan.
