Dinka Abyei Council Welcomes UNSC on the Area

The Supreme Council of Coordinating Dinka Abyei Affairs, issued a statement on the UNSC last Monday 6 November 2023.
The statement welcomed.the UNSC resolution which called Sudan and South Sudan to demilitarize Abyei and the pulling out of South Sudan People Defence Forces, South Sudan police and Sudanese Oil police from the area to be replaced by Abyei Police Forces to protect the civilians. The statement hailed the role of UNISFA in easing the access of humanitarian assistance and relief to Abyei.
The statement affirmed that the first step of the political settlement is the implementation of the temporary administrative and security arrangements, besides the formation of the temporary administrative institutions between the two countries, calling for safeguarding the area’s borders by the UN security forces in Abyei aiming at achieving security and stability in the area.
