Justice Ministry organizes workshop on Borders Security and Combatting Human Trafficking
Training department at Justice Ministry organized Tuesday a training workshop under the title “ Borders Security within Context of Combatting Human Trafficking and Migrant Smuggling “.
The workshop was attended by acting Undersecretary of Justice Ministry, Chairman of Training Department and a number of those who concerned with the issue of the workshop.
Addressing the training session, the acting Undersecretary of Justice Ministry, Dr Ibrahim Mohamed Ahmed Draig affirmed importance of enforcement of laws and referring those who committed the crimes of human trafficking and migrant smuggling to fair trials, calling for further cooperation and coordination as well as strengthening partnerships with the relevant authorities,
He commended the huge role being played by authorities concerned with combatting the human trafficking, pointing to existence of strict laws at level of national, regional and international legislations
The General Counselor, Dr Adil Shams-Eddin underscored importance of protecting the borders and crossings in addition to criminal examination of the documents and closing the door before the counterfeiters besides adopting strict procedures for securing the documents.
He disclosed that the issue of human trafficking was one of the issues which obsessed the international community, pointing out that geographical position of Sudan make it a center for human trafficking and other trans-national crimes.
Dr Shams-Eddin reviewed Sudan’s efforts on combating the human trafficking and legislations , laws and conventions that Sudan has ratified, describing the Human Trafficking and Migrant Smuggling Act as one of the most important measures taken by the state against this crime which is committed against humanity
He appreciated the huge role and efforts made by the National Committee on Combatting Human Trafficking which is chaired by the Justice Ministry Undersecretary to prevent and combatting this crime.
The participants, for their part, affirmed importance of the workshop which tackled main axes of the human trafficking crime, lauding the Training Department for organizing such workshops which contribute to raising their capacities and acquiring knowledge which help them to carry out their work.
