Kenana Implements Projects Associated with the Sugar Industry

The delegated member of Kenana Sugar Company, Mr. Abdel Raouf Mirghani Abdel Rahman, confirmed that the company was keen to implement projects associated with the sugar industry to achieve economic and social development and for the purpose of export.
He said in a statement that the company gave top priority to increasing the production of ethanol from sweet potatoes, and that the work was completed in the factory, and the trial operations were successfully completed last May.
He added that potatoes have been cultivated in different varieties (local and imported), and they are proceeding according to the plan set to plant (3) thousand feddans over two cycles to provide sufficient raw material to operate the ethanol plant with maximum capacity.
His Excellency announced the start of harvesting an area of ​​​​potatoes to operate the sweet potato factory during the current month.
He stressed that the company targeted the organic fertilizer project to produce (200) thousand tons during the year, and (40) thousand tons have been produced so far out of a total of (125) thousand tons planned for the current year, indicating that the organic fertilizer is produced from sugar and ethanol manufacturing waste, and poultry and cow waste. .
He pointed out that work on the biogas project, the first station, has been completed by 99%, and it will be operational during this season. The biogas project provides the energy required to operate the ethanol plant, and it is also used as an alternative to furance and diesel fuel.
Regarding the meat processing project, Mr. Abdel Raouf said that an Italian company has been contracted to manufacture and install the factory, indicating that the project will be completed and production will begin within 15 months. The delegated member added that the meat project has entered the production phase and a plan is set up to produce three millions kilograms this season indicating the start of production of the egg project, noting that the plan for the current season is to produce one and a half million table eggs, equivalent to (45) million table eggs.

Regarding fruit production, Mr. Abdel Raouf explained that (26) thousand mango trees have been planted, and (8) thousand trees will enter the production cycle this season.

And he talked about the completion of work to plant (600) acres of bananas out of a total of a thousand acres, indicating that production has started in an area of ​​​​(20) acres, and the targeted area will enter the production cycle by the end of this year.

He revealed the solar power plant project with a capacity of (40) megawatts, adding that work is underway with some companies to complete agreements and start implementation.

And he declared that Kinana is a station for exports, and the company is communicating with international parties to enter into the project.
