Human Rights expert welcomes special commitments in framework agreement

The expert on the situation of human rights in Sudan, Radwan Nouisir, welcomed the human rights commitments contained in the political framework agreement that was signed between the political forces and the military component, hoping it to set a road map to settle the outstanding issues with a broad participation to achieve the slogan of freedom, peace, justice and the formation of a civil government.

Human Rights expert has also welcomed the resumption of legal and institutional reforms with the participation of the largest number of Sudanese citizens in the coming government.

during his address to the press conference held today at the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Khartoum, Nouisir said that the Human Rights Commission should have pivotal issues in the program of the next government, pointing out to his visit to the states of Khartoum and West Darfur to the size of the great challenges facing Sudan, with already held meeting and which is being held so far, in which there is a great involvement in the framework of issues of displacement and refugees, adding that the refugees hope to return to their homes, indicating that in order to achieve this, security and political stability must be achieved and the full reasons behind their displacement and the conflicts that occurred in general must be resolved.

Nouisser added, “During the meetings we held with civil society representatives, their message was to demand accountability for those responsible for human rights violations,” stressing that accountability and transitional justice issues require credible practical mechanisms that address crimes to represent a new legal structure that prevents the spread of crimes.

Nouisir has extended thanks to the authorities in Sudan for their cooperation, facilitation of the mission, and their support for his visit and the frank and constructive discussion on human rights issues in Sudan.

It is worth noting that the human rights expert met with the civil society authorities, and he also met with many victims of human rights violations in the states of Khartoum and West Darfur.
