Gezira Scheme Board Signs MoU with the Regional Center for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD) in Kenya

Governor of Gezira Scheme, Dr. Omer Mohamed Marzouq returned from Kenya after a 3-day visit to Kenya upon the invitation of the Regional Center for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD) in Kenya.
Dr. Marzouq was accompanied by the Director of Information technologies in Gezira Scheme.
The Governor of Gezira Scheme was acquainted with the latest technologies in mapping through GIS and RS besides using the drone in agricultural operations provided by the Center.
The delegation gave a brief on the digital transformation programme and its components adapted by Gezira Scheme besides establishment of the database.

The Governor of Gezira Scheme, signed a MoU with the Regional Center for Mapping of Resources for Development to studies and training which will be implemented in the upcoming days.
On the sideline of the visit the Governor of Gezira Scheme met with the Ambassador of Sudan in Kenya and briefed him on the activities of Gezira Scheme especially on the production of cotton and groundnuts, besides the readiness of the Scheme to meet the demand of Kenya from the two crops.
It is worth noting that the RCMRD, established in 1975, is a premier centre of excellence in the provision of geo-information and allied information communication applications. As part of its mandate, RCMRD, through its programme on early warning, offers capacity building, research, development and innovation services utilizing space technology for disaster risk reduction, disaster management and emergency response.
